About Dr. Lilly Magid
Dr. Magid earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at Long Island University, Post Campus. She has trained at a variety of settings in the New York area. Dr. Magid completed externships and trainings at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital, Maimonides Hospital, Head Start schools in the Bronx, and Long Island University’s Psychological Services Center. Dr. Magid matched for her APA-Accredited internship at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital, where she trained in the child and adolescent outpatient, inpatient, and day treatment centers as well as the Parent Infant Center. She has training in individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, and assessment. As a former educator, Dr. Magid has a unique understanding of school systems and psychoeducational evaluations. Dr. Magid completed her post-doctoral fellowship at Brooklyn Heights Behavioral Associates (BHBA), a comprehensive DBT group practice. While on fellowship, she co-led multifamily DBT skills groups, conducted individual DBT therapy for children, adolescents, and adults, led parent training webinars, provided parent coaching sessions, and supervised trainees. Dr. Magid has also worked as a licensed psychologist and intake coordinator at BHBA. Additionally, she worked as a licensed psychologist at The Motherhood Center, an innovate treatment center for individuals experiencing perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.
Dr. Magid has worked with patients from infancy to late adulthood and utilizes her expansive training to inform her practice with children, families, and adults. She received specialized training working with adolescents with co-occurring mental health and substance use issues at Comprehensive Adolescent Rehabilitation and Education Service (CARES), a district 79 high school, and developed an expertise in working with teens and families. She also specializes in working with mothers in the perinatal period; she trained at the Parent Infant Center at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital and she wrote her doctoral dissertation on the dialectical experience mothers have as they transition into motherhood. Finally, Dr. Magid utilizes Parent Management Training (PMT), a positive parenting approach, and has led numerous workshops for parents at local community centers and schools. She is well-versed in assisting parents in navigating the many hurdles of parenthood. Dr. Magid is passionate about supporting and advocating for all women during this enormous life transition.
Dr. Magid is a member of the American Psychological Association, Psi Chi Honors Society, Women’s Mental Health Consortium, and Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP) Division 53 of the American Psychological Association. She received comprehensive foundational training in DBT through Behavioral Tech, is trained in APA guidelines for providing clinical supervision to trainees, is certified in TF-CBT (Trauma Focused CBT for children and adolescents), and is certified in maternal mental health through PSI. Dr. Magid is committed to making her office a safe space for the LGBTQ+ community as well as patients from all religions, races, and cultural identities. She is dedicated to continuing her education by attending didactics and workshops.
